Cosmetic Dentistry Your smile makes all the difference in the world - to you, to those who care about you, and to us! Your smile is the focus of your face, second only to your eyes. It's as personal as a signature, as unique as the individual wearing it. It is a mirror of your self image. And it plays a major role in your business and social relationships. It used to be that many smiles were marred by broken, worn, severely decaying teeth. Today, virtually every dental discomfort, from severe periodontal disease to a single unsightly tooth, can be repaired - or better still, prevented - easily and painlessly. Cosmetic dentistry is coming of age with new procedures that make a beautiful smile accessible to everyone. Dental technology, balanced with an eye for esthetics, can bring dramatic results: mend a chip here, lighten a discoloration there, close up gaps - these procedures are, for the most part, conservative and comfortable. Your reward is a new level of self-esteem that will make people sit up and take notice. Before

Dental Implants
Tooth loss can affect your dental health and personal appearance. When you lose one or more teeth, your remaining teeth can drift out of position. This can lead to a change in the bite, the loss of additional teeth, decay, and gum disease. Implants can be an effective method of replacing one tooth or several teeth. Dental implants are today’s best alternative to natural teeth. They allow you to function more normally than conventional dentures and bridges. They can be the foundation for improving smiles and appearance. Implants are not just for the elderly patient. They can benefit anyone with missing teeth regardless of their age. Whether for a single missing tooth or for replacement of all a patient’s teeth, dental implants are now recognized as the standard treatment for a full range of problems. Implants offer stability. Because they fuse to your bone, they provide stable support for dentures, bridges or individual crowns as they don’t slip or shift in your mouth when you eat or speak. Implants integrate into your jaw and help the replacement feel more natural. Some people also find the secure fit of implant supported restorations more comfortable then conventional substitutes. Several steps are necessary to place an implant, and the entire procedure does take several months to complete. An initial consultation with an oral surgeon or periodontist will determine if the patient is a candidate for implants. The implant is placed in the jaw, and the patient’s bone grows around the implant. The healing takes about three to six months at which time a healing cap is placed when the implant is uncovered. The final step is to place an abutment and take a final impression for the crown, bridge or denture. Brush and floss your implants just like you would your teeth. Proper dental care will help keep your implants and your mouth healthy. Periodontal Disease
Periodontal (gum) disease is the major cause of tooth loss in adults. Periodontal disease is a condition in which bacteria attack the tissues that surround and support the teeth. Simply put, it is an infection that can result in tooth loss if not treated. Because it is often painless, the patient may not be aware until the gums and bone are seriously affected. What causes Periodontal Disease? Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that clings to teeth and gums. Even if you brush every day, you cannot remove plaque around or below the gum line. The bacteria create toxins that over time can destroy the gun and bone. Plaque needs to be removed every 24 to 48 hours, or it hardens into a rough deposit called tartar or calculus. The only way to remove it is by having your teeth professional cleaned at a dental office. Tartar that builds up below the gum line leads to chronic inflammation and infection; red puffy bleeding gums. Prevention is the key defence against periodontal disease. This begins with a good oral hygiene routine at home by brushing twice a day and flossing once a day. Our hygienists provide instructions on the proper brushing and flossing techniques as well as the use of other hygiene products. Regular dental cleanings are important in preventing periodontal disease. The doctor and the hygienist will recommend the frequency of cleanings the patient needs to help keep the disease under control. One of the treatments for periodontal disease is root planning and scaling. This non surgical treatment may require one to six visits. This root debridement therapy removes plaque and tartar beneath the gum line. A local anaesthetic is usually given to reduce any discomfort. Using a small scaler or ultrasonic cleaner, the calculus is carefully removed or planed to allow the gun tissue to heal and reattach to the tooth. Once the scaling is complete, a follow-up appointment is made approximately one month later to check how the gums have healed and how well the pockets have been decreased. If pockets remain greater than 4mm, additional treatment may be needed. Periodontal disease will not go away by itself, nor is it periodontal disease curable. But with diligent home care and regular professional cleanings, it is controllable
